Weight, height/length, and head circumference measurements from your child are compared with normal development milestones and previous assessments.

You’ll schedule pediatric wellness checks frequently in your baby’s first year. Once your child enters school, these become annual wellness exams. For children with a chronic condition, wellness checks may occur more often.

During a wellness check, your provider measures your child’s height and weight. Older children undergo a blood pressure check, too. The doctor does a comprehensive physical exam, looking at your child’s eyes, ears, mouth, respiration, heart, and external genitals.
